Halo has it's roots in PC gaming. The prequels (pre-sequels?) were PC only titles until the second one was added to Live Arcade. "Halo" was originally supposed to be a sequel to another of Bungie's games, and what became Halo should have been the 4th in the Marathon series.LHR Wolverine wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2017 11:31 pmyes but id still be a halo gamer
It's a little convoluted how it all worked out if you check out the history leading up to each game and it's sparked quite a bit of fan conspiracy stuff. The 3rd game, Marathon Infinity (it's logo is in the Halo logo as well) features Mjolnir power armor, Hunters, and weapons like the SPNKr. Some of the multiplayer maps are reworked Marathon maps, and Bungie stuck a lot of "Marathon" achievements into Halo games to as sort of an inside joke or easter egg.
To be honest, Microsoft probably just wanted a cool game for their flagship console and didn't want it to seem like the 4th title in a series. So, give Bungie a bunch of cash to rename a title they were working on and an awesome PC series makes it way to a console under another name.
We've come a long way since the 90s, haven't we?
