gross it needs to stay on console.... like its suppose to
If every awesome game that started on the PC never went to a console, you'd be a sad gamer.
yes but id still be a halo gamer
Halo has it's roots in PC gaming. The prequels (pre-sequels?) were PC only titles until the second one was added to Live Arcade. "Halo" was originally supposed to be a sequel to another of Bungie's games, and what became Halo should have been the 4th in the Marathon series.

It's a little convoluted how it all worked out if you check out the history leading up to each game and it's sparked quite a bit of fan conspiracy stuff. The 3rd game, Marathon Infinity (it's logo is in the Halo logo as well) features Mjolnir power armor, Hunters, and weapons like the SPNKr. Some of the multiplayer maps are reworked Marathon maps, and Bungie stuck a lot of "Marathon" achievements into Halo games to as sort of an inside joke or easter egg.

To be honest, Microsoft probably just wanted a cool game for their flagship console and didn't want it to seem like the 4th title in a series. So, give Bungie a bunch of cash to rename a title they were working on and an awesome PC series makes it way to a console under another name.

We've come a long way since the 90s, haven't we?

You missed the time of wonder. A time when they added a second button to console controllers.
We all thought "madness! Who will ever need more than 1 button unless you're on a word processor!"

Minesweeper was always fun, though I'm willing to bet you don't remember snake on Linux.

Nowadays we've got Battle Royale types like PlayerUnknown's; and hardware like VR headsets. It's crazy how much gaming has evolved in such a short period of time.

Snake was out a long time before Linux. There have been Snake clones since the 70s. I remember playing Blockade (one of the Snake clones) on the Atari 2600 in the early 80s.

I just looked it up, and the Light Cycles from Tron were based on that game. I hadn't really thought of that before.

My parents might still have the system laying around some where. Doubt it would work if they did.
